Daddy-Long-Legs, or Daddy Long-Legs, is a novel by American author Jean Webster. The story revolves around an orphaned girl named Judy Abbott, who receives a scholarship to Lincoln High School from a stranger whose pseudonym is John Smith. She calls him "Daddy-Long-Legs" because she has never seen him to thank him, only his long shadow.
